A
steam powered tour around North Wales including standard gauge steam on
the Cambrian Coast and North Wales Coast lines, trains on Talerddig and
the Conway Valley. The narrow gauge isn't forgotten with visits to the Vale of Rheidol, Welshpool & Llanfair, Talyllyn, Ffestiniog, Snowdon Mountain and Welsh Highland Railways. There are both on-train and lineside recordings and among the 26 tracks, there is even a footplate ride on a Welsh Highland Garratt! |

There
are many who would name the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as there favourite
and these 17 recordings with a playing time of almost 80 minutes may give
an idea of why! While you can't see the excellent scenery you can certainly hear the noise as 13 hard working locos are heard both from the lineside and on train on the steep gradients that are a feature of this railway. Highlights are a fast & noisy climb to Goathland with Dame Vera Lynn, an atmospheric recording of trains crossing at Levisham and a train on the 1 in 49 in a thunderstorm! |

Many
would describe the Severn Valley Railway as one of the premier preserved
railways in the UK and I would be more than happy to agree. Without a doubt, the railway has a fine and varied selection of motive power and the passenger rolling stock, including many pre-nationalisation examples, is second to none. Add some very atmospheric stations, pleasant scenery and you can easily see why the line is so popular. Hopefully, these 27 recordings with a playing time of almost 80 minutes will give the listener a taste of just what makes the railway special. |
